IRC R908.3 (Decking Replacement)
International Residential Code section requiring replacement of non-conforming roof decking when re-roofing.
If existing decking is less than 1/2-inch thick, has spans that fail current code, or is delaminated/damaged, it must be replaced — and the carrier is obligated to pay for it under code-upgrade coverage in most states. This is one of the highest-dollar supplement items.
